For over three decades CPCMG has been recognized for the exceptional quality and training of its physicians. Our physicians have led the way in the innovative and comprehensive assessment and treatment of cardiovascular conditions, cardiovascular research and in the development of standard-setting patient care protocols.

Our medical staff and affiliates includes board-certified cardiologists, many of whom have additional board certification in important cardiology and diagnostic subspecialties.


BarbantSOPHIE D. BARBANT, M.D.

Dr. Barbant is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Nuclear Medicine. She received her medical degree from the University of Paris and holds a master’s degree in biological sciences from Necker Enfants Malades in Paris, France.

She completed residency training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Necker Enfants Malades Hospital and in Internal Medicine at California Pacific Medical Center. Dr. Barbant served fellowships in Echocardiography and Clinical Pharmacology at UC San Francisco, and a fellowship in Cardiology at California Pacific Medical Center.

In addition to general clinical and invasive cardiology, she subspecializes in transesophageal echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, and Multislice CT coronary angiography.

BlumleinSTEVEN BLUMLEIN, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Blumlein is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography. He received his medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed residency training at University of Southern California Hospitals in Los Angeles. He served a fellowship in Cardiology at UC San Francisco.

Dr. Blumlein has held the position of President of the San Francisco Division of the American Heart Association, for which he currently sits on the Board of Directors, and is an associate clinical professor at UC San Francisco.

He lectures and instructs extensively in his field and serves on the editorial board as a reviewer for the journal Chest. He is presently a principle investigator for a research project to treat atrial fibrillation.

BrentBRUCE NORMAN BRENT, M.D., F.A.C.C., F.A.C.P.

Dr. Brent is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is Director of Adult Interventional Cardiology and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at California Pacific Medical Center.

Dr. Brent received his medical degree from Boston University and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital. He served a fellowship in Cardiology at Yale University School of Medicine.

He has published many articles on coronary artery disease and coronary angioplasty.

FrancozRICHARD A. FRANCOZ, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Francoz is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Pulmonary Medicine. He is Chief of the Division of Cardiology at California Pacific Medical Center, where he has served as an assistant clinical professor of Medicine for more than 20 years.

Dr. Francoz received his medical degree from the University of California Medical Center in San Francisco and served a fellowship in Pulmonary Medicine at UC, San Diego and a fellowship in Cardiology at UCLA Hospital.

He is an extensively published medical writer and is currently a principal investigator in an international trial for apnea therapy.

RICHARD J. GRAY, M.D.

Dr. Gray is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He is Medical Director of the Sutter Pacific Heart Centers at CPMC/St Luke’s and Marin General Hospitals. He received his medical degree from University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio and completed a fellowship in Cardiology at Cedars of Lebanon Hospital in Los Angeles.

Dr Gray served on the academic staff at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and served also as Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at UCLA. He was professor and chairman of the Department of Internal Medicine at The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and, prior to coming to the Bay Area, was Professor of Medicine (Cardiology) at the University of Minnesota and Director of Cardiovascular Services for Health Partners, a large Minnesota health plan.

In addition to teaching and lecturing nationally and internationally, he has been a principal investigator of numerous medical research grants and fellowships and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. Dr. Gray is broadly published in his field, contributing prolifically to medical journals and professional texts. He is the author of the postoperative textbook, Medical Management of the Cardiac Surgical Patient.

STEVEN CHRIS HAO, M.D.

Dr. Hao is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He received his medical degree from University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital, Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

Dr. Hao served fellowships in Cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology at the Weill Medical College of Cornell University. He is Associate Director of Electrophysiology at Sutter Pacific Heart Centers for Marin General Hospital, California Pacific Medical Center and St. Luke’s Hospital.

Dr. Hao currently serves as a Reviewer for the Journal of Interventional Electrophysiology and is a distinguished researcher in the field of Cardiology.

DANA J. HILDEBRAND, P.A.

Dana Hildebrand received a B.A. in Biology at University of California, Santa Barbara and a master’s of Medical Science, Physician Assistant Studies at Emory University in Atlanta. She has served as a certified nurse assistant in the Department of Orthopedics at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, as a medical assistant at Westside Neighborhood Clinic, an indigent-based primary care clinic in Santa Barbara, and as a medical assistant at Sansum Santa Barbara Medical Foundation Clinic. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.

RICHARD H. HONGO, M.D.

Dr. Hongo is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Cardiac Electrophysiology. He received his medical degree from Loma Linda University and was Chief Resident during his Internal Medicine residency at Legacy Emanuel/Good Samaritan Hospitals in Portland, Oregon. He completed a fellowship in General Cardiology at California Pacific Medical Center, and a fellowship in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at University of California San Francisco.

Dr. Hongo received a postdoctoral fellowship award from the American Heart Association and is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He is fluent in Japanese.

HuiPETER YEE MAN HUI, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr Hui is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology. He is Director of the Coronary Care Unit at California Pacific Medical Center.Dr. Hui received his medical degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he served as President of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and was Valedictorian of the Class of 1982.

He was Chief Medical Resident in Internal Medicine at Stanford University Hospitals. He served a fellowship in Cardiology and an Interventional Fellowship at the Cardiovascular Research Institute at UC San Francisco. Dr. Hui has received multiple honors as a top cardiologist and medical professor. He is fluent in Chinese.

KershEDWARD S. KERSH, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Kersh is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography. He received his medical degree from the State University of New York and was Chief Resident at Montefiore-Morrisania Training Programs in the Bronx, New York. He served a fellowship in Cardiology at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center, San Francisco.

Dr. Kersh is a clinical professor of medicine at UC San Francisco, where he has been honored with the Kaiser Award for excellence in teaching. He has also been honored by inclusion on the Best of Cardiology list in San Francisco.

He is currently the Chief of Cardiology at the St. Luke’s campus of CPMC. He is an active lecturer and has special clinical interests in echocardiography, hypertension and atrial fibrillation.

KlineHOWARD J. KLINE, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Kline is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He received his medical degree from New York Medical College and completed residency training at The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City and University of California Medical Center in San Francisco. He served a fellowship in Cardiology at Mount Sinai Medical Center.

Dr. Kline served as a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, where he was Chief of Cardiology Service and Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and Co-Director of the Nuclear Medicine Department.

He has been a clinical professor of medicine for more than 20 years at UC San Francisco and has served on the editorial board of American Heart Journal, the review board of Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and as Cardiology Editor of Hospital Physician.

MorrisCHARLES K. MORRIS, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Morris is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. He received his medical degree from the University of Southern California Medical School and completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Children’s Hospital of San Francisco, University of California. He served a fellowship in Cardiology at the University of California, Irvine. Dr. Morris holds a B.A. in Creative Writing and Poetry from Princeton University.

RosenblattANDREW ROSENBLATT, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Rosenblatt is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography. He received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York and was Chief Resident at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center. He completed a fellowship in Cardiology at Pacific Presbyterian Medical Center in San Francisco.

Dr. Rosenblatt is a clinical professor of medicine at UC San Francisco and serves at California Pacific Medical Center as Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Training Program and Director of the Echocardiography Laboratory. He has served on numerous medical boards and advisory committees and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

YeeRUPSA RAY YEE, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Dr. Yee is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Echocardiography. She is Director of Cardiology Research at California Pacific Medical Center. She received her medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed residency training at UC San Francisco, where she served a fellowship in Cardiology.

Dr. Yee also served a fellowship in Advanced Echocardiography and Heart Failure at Washington University in St. Louis. Her professional interests include the treatment of heart failure, cardiovascular disease in women and pregnancy, echocardiography and consultative cardiology.
